ooooh! La laaaaa!

see his lovely e-cards on the website
My good friend Richard who owns the Von Geusau Chocolaterie in Greyton South Africa, another beautiful spot, revealed these amazing holiday venues (below) to me.This is the Von Gesau Chocolaterie, if you get the opportunity to visit Greyton it's a must stop for divine chocolate & excellent coffee, a match made in heaven if you ask me. :)

LA RESIDENCE

All the above La Residence
Franschoek ( frun-shook) Cape Town is one of the most beautiful settings in South Africa, hills of vineyards, lovely architecture, art & wine in abundance.
What I love about the interior of La Residence is the spirit of drama, the amazingly talented decorator has managed to create a space of fantasy while still being a room you could curl up in a read a good book.
http://www.birkenheadhouse.com/ a much more contemporary space, with equal measures of crispness and warmth.

A little minimalist day dream

A sleek home of my own concoction, when you have a lot to pack you kind of wish your house looked a bit like this.

Moving

Oh my goodness, I think the meaning of Moving has finally hit home, I feel somewhat shell shocked. There is so much to do so little time! I feel a bit like doing the above.
I have so many loose ends to tie up I feel like I am in a knot!!!
Going to go make yet another TO DO list, they always make me feel better :)
Will post a little later.

longer then a life time

'' A man has made at least a start on the discovery of the meaning of human life when he plants shade trees under which he knows he will never sit" D Elton Trueblood

I think that people tend to focus on their own life times to much, their own personal achievements. As any motivational speaker will tell you, set goals you know in your mind are achievable. The problem with this motivation is that people will always limit their goals to their life time, their abilities and in most cases only span over the next 10 years.

Be a part of something bigger, be apart of cultivating a legacy that people you will never meet and may not even know your name will have the pleasure of enjoying.

Look to your daily life or career and start something wonderful however simple however grand, something positive and uplifting to hand to 10 generations into the future.

If you think of something I would love to know what it is!!!!

Satisfaction

' I have learned to seek my happiness by limiting my desires, rather than attempting to satisfy them" John Stuart Mills

I think what he is trying to say is that if you keep your desires always within reach or rather desire what you already have you will find happiness (contentment) because if you look for happiness in other things there will always be another thing and so on so happiness will not be reached... makes sense?

That said I am looking forward to a Barbecue this weekend, what we refer to here as a Braai, the sun is out and it's a beautiful Saturday. Until then I find happiness in these images that make me want to start work on a blank canvas.

YAY ITS FRIDAY :)

BNO DESIGN

It's been a wonderful week from moment to moment. My gratitude list has grown exponentially and with frequent Power cuts in our country silence & candle light encourage more reading and writing. I am working on new list considering that I may be leaving for Sunny Australia in a few weeks time I have made a list of things I would like to do in South Africa before I go and the really interesting thing it's all people not place related so it just goes to show home is where the heart is.

These are my favourite images today :)

Luxury is the freedom not to want!!

After having a glass or two of Champers and some strawberries, just because life is short ... I wanted to post something that was about luxury. I visited site that listed the best hotels in the world and perhaps the alcohol has kicked in but I can't recall the name.

I hope you enjoy the experience.

Speaking of luxury, if you are looking for an amazing chocolate to go with all of the above visit

http://www.vgchocolate.co.za/ I urge you to order his chocolate no matter where you are in the world!! It's well worth it!! Will do a post when he gets around to sending me some pics!!

Pastel Post

A range of journals I produced in 2005, I LOVE journals

Today has been such a pleasure, the interesting part is that it's been a fairly uneventful day but when you look at it from a new perspective everything is just so damn special. I have started the good old Grateful List thing, I now do it every morning while I am sipping my wake up coffee watching the birds go into a frenzy of the crumb spread I had laid out and then again at the end of the day while I am tucked up in bed. You realise how many wonderful things happen to you on a daily basis from moment to moment.
Since I am feeling so warm and fuzzy I thought a pastel posting is in order!

The Beautiful Warmth of Wood

Often clients ask how they can warm up a particular room and the first they say is what colour should I add? Red or Orange? The answer is neither. The key to warming up a room is quite simply to add texture with natural materials. Here are a few examples of the Black and white theme but notice how the wood warms up the space instantly.
