Often clients ask how they can warm up a particular room and the first they say is what colour should I add? Red or Orange? The answer is neither. The key to warming up a room is quite simply to add texture with natural materials. Here are a few examples of the Black and white theme but notice how the wood warms up the space instantly.

So true. Beautiful photos with my favorite of all design elements--warm woods.

Tom Scheerer does wood better than anybody, frankly, that combination of classic modern (Saarinen tables, et cetera) with hand-hewn rusticity (those plank walls).

I am so glad to hear you say, it is important to add texture first. I completely agree.
